Main Soap Bases
Our handcrafted soaps are built using these nourishing, skin-loving bases and the benifits:
-
When selecting a soap base, the choice often depends on the desired balance between skin nourishment and the sensory experience of the lather. Here is a breakdown of the benefits and lather profiles for these four popular bases.
1. Goat’s Milk Soap Base
Goat's milk is prized for its high nutrient content and its ability to support sensitive skin.
-
Primary Benefits:
-
pH Harmony: Its pH level is very close to human skin, which helps maintain the natural moisture barrier.
-
Lactic Acid: Contains natural alpha-hydroxy acids that gently exfoliate dead skin cells.
-
Vitamin Rich: High in Vitamin A and Selenium, which assist in repairing damaged skin tissue.
-
-
Lather Type: Creamy and Dense. It produces a thick, "lotion-like" lather with very small bubbles that feels nourishing rather than frothy.
2. Glycerin Soap Base
Glycerin is a natural humectant, making it a "moisture magnet" for the skin.
-
Primary Benefits:
-
Hydration: It draws moisture from the air into the skin to prevent dryness.
-
Gentle Cleansing: Being hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic, it is excellent for oily or acne-prone skin as it won't clog pores.
-
Clarity: Its transparent nature makes it the ideal base for embedding botanicals or creating vibrant colors.
-
-
Lather Type: Large and Bubbly. This base creates a high volume of large, airy bubbles that provide a very "squeaky clean" sensation.
3. Shea Butter Soap Base
Extracted from the nut of the African shea tree, this base is a powerhouse for conditioning.
-
Primary Benefits:
-
Intense Emolliency: High concentrations of fatty acids and vitamins (E and F) provide deep conditioning for very dry skin.
-
Anti-Inflammatory: Contains cinnamic acid, which helps soothe skin redness and irritation.
-
Skin Elasticity: Promotes the skin’s natural collagen production over time.
-
-
Lather Type: Silky and Stable. It produces a smooth, slippery lather with tiny, consistent bubbles that offer great "glide" on the skin.
4. Oatmeal Soap Base
Oatmeal is used primarily for its functional, soothing properties and its physical texture.
-
Primary Benefits:
-
Soothing Compounds: Contains avenanthramides, which are antioxidants known to reduce itching and inflammation.
-
Natural Saponins: Oats contain natural cleansers that lift dirt from pores without the need for harsh chemicals.
-
Protective Barrier: It leaves a fine, protective film on the skin that helps lock in moisture.
-
-
Lather Type: Milky and Low-Foam. The suspended oat particles tend to weigh down the bubbles, resulting in a modest, opaque lather that emphasizes the texture of the oats.

Optional Soap Bases
Available for select customizations:
-
Using coconut milk or triple butter bases allows for a highly specialized wash that prioritizes skin health and a decadent, "high-end" tactile experience.
1. Coconut Milk Soap Base
Coconut milk is a favorite for those looking to balance deep cleansing with moisture, providing a tropical, nutrient-dense alternative to traditional water-based soaps.
Primary Benefits:
-
Rich Fatty Acids: High in lauric acid, which provides a deep clean while maintaining the skin's natural lipid barrier.
-
Vitamin Infusion: Naturally packed with Vitamins C and E, which help maintain skin elasticity and provide antioxidant protection.
-
Soothing Micronutrients: Contains minerals like copper and magnesium that can help calm redness and soothe irritation in sensitive skin.
-
Natural Brightening: The mild acids in the milk help gently clear away dull surface cells, leaving a subtle glow.
Lather Type: Creamy and Silk-like. The proteins and fats in the milk produce a "lotion-style" lather. Instead of big, frothy bubbles, it creates a dense, opaque micro-foam that feels exceptionally smooth against the skin.
2. Triple Butter Soap Base
Typically consisting of a blend of Shea, Cocoa, and Mango butters, this base is the gold standard for luxury hydration and intense skin conditioning.
Primary Benefits:
-
Maximum Emolliency: The heavy concentration of unsaponifiable fats acts as a powerful humectant, locking moisture into the skin for hours after the wash.
-
Vitamin A & E Enrichment: These butters are naturally high in skin-repairing vitamins that support the skin's defense against environmental stressors.
-
Enhanced Slip: Provides a superior glide, making it an excellent choice for facial bars or precision shaving applications.
-
Skin Softening: Specifically targets rough patches (like elbows and knees), leaving the skin feeling velvety rather than "squeaky" clean.
Lather Type: Heavy and Velvety. The high oil and butter content tends to suppress large, airy bubbles. In their place, it creates a thick, stable, and low-lying foam that has a distinct weight and richness to it.
